A new collection, arrives this November...
Made for the shade.
An arbour is a shaded place to rest, made by hand from branches and leaves. We drew this collection for that moment.
The word began around 1300 as a herb garden, planted first and built second. It later came to mean a shaded bower. We like that, because every Arbour piece begins as something planted by hand: a flowering spray, carved in wood.
The Making

The first sketch
It began with a flowering spray, drawn to explore the play of light and shade. A bloom in full flower, a bud not yet open. Two expressions of the same motif, and the beginning of Arbour.

The first carving on wood
From paper to wood, line by line. The floral drawing was traced onto a wooden block, then carved by hand, leaving behind the lines that would carry the print onto cloth. A little more of Arbour taking shape.

The first strike-off
The first impression on cloth. Pressed by hand onto fabric, the carved block brought the flowering spray to life. Spacing, placement and colours come together for the first time, bringing the idea a step closer to the finished print.
A Craft with a long memory
Hand block printing has been practised around Jaipur since around the 17th century, carried to Rajasthan by the Chhipa printers, whose name comes from the word for "to print". The Arbour bloom is carved in Sanganer and printed by hand, block by block.
When does Arbour arrive?
Arbour is being made by hand in Jaipur, with arrival planned for November. Our waitlist will hear the next update first.
What will the Arbour collection include?
Arbour begins with a new take on the cotton coat, designed to be worn in more than one way. In the months ahead, the collection will extend into cushions, followed by duvet covers and pillowcase sets, bringing the Arbour prints into more corners of your home.
What is the idea behind Arbour?

What makes Arbour different?
Every piece begins with a flowering motif carved by hand into wood, then printed onto cotton. There is another side to the story, quite literally, which we will reveal soon.
Will the cotton coats be reversible?
Yes. Reversibility is at the heart of Arbour, with two finished sides to discover. We will share a closer look when the time comes.
What are the cotton coats made of?
The sun side is 60s cotton poplin and the shade side is 60s cotton cambric. Both are 100% cotton.
What sizes will be available for the coats?
Arbour will offer Standard and Inclusive fits. The full size range and measurements will be available when the collection launches.
Will every coat look the same?
Arbour comes in three distinct colourways, each carrying the same print design. As every piece is hand printed, small variations in the placement and finish are part of the process. The pattern and colours will remain true to the design, while no two coats will be exactly alike.
What do I get by joining the waitlist?
You will be among the first to discover Arbour, with an early look at the collection and the opportunity to shop before the public launch. We will share the details by email as the reveal approaches.
